Hello Kitty Science Birthday Party

For D's 6th birthday party, we had a Hello Kitty science themed party. We did several experiments together in our lab coats and safety goggles. Here is D before the party.





For the first experiment, we made some liquids change into Hello Kitty's favorite colors, pink and purple, by adding purple cabbage juice to them.



Next, we made radioactive Hello Kitty milk.



One of the favorites was the atomic Hello Kitty slime, in pink of course.



We made Hello Kitty ice cream that the girls had to roll around in the can so that the rock salt melted the ice to create the yummy ice cream.


Afterwards, we took out our ingredients that had changed from a liquid to the consistency of soft serve ice cream.



The girls got to have a taste.



For our final experiment, it was time for Hello Kitty to clean up for lunch, so we made a special Hello Kitty bubble bath with purple bubbles.

D couldn't wait until nighttime to put on her new Hello Kitty nightgown and Snuggie and slipper socks she got as gifts, so she wore them for the rest of the day.

Valentine's Day

On Tuesday, D got to bring Valentines to school to pass out to her classmates. I didn't realize what a haul she'd bring home. Candy for a lifetime!



M got some treats from us as well as from grandmas and aunts.

On Friday, D celebrated the 100th day at school. She had to bring 100 of any small object (she brought pennies) for a counting activity they did.



On Saturday, we went up to the cabin. Steve told the kids they could color on the wall just this one special time because we are getting ready to put up sheet rock on the other side of the studs. They made a beautifully colored wall.



M didn't quite grasp the concept of coloring on the wall. He kept wanting to put hold his picture up to the wall and color it there. We kept telling him he could actually color on the wall but he just wouldn't do it. Let's hope that he doesn't decide to try it out on his own sometime somewhere else!

Milestone Birthday

On Sunday, we celebrated my great Aunt Kay's 90th birthday at Buca's. It was nice to get together with the family.

Roller Skating

The letter O.



On Wednesday night, D's church choir and Adventure Club went rollerskating. I took both D and M, thinking that since they are taking ice skating lessons it would transfer to roller skating. You know what they say...never assume! M did great--he shuffled along and didn't want any help. D was like a wet noodle. She couldn't stay balanced without holding on to me. This is a rare shot of her not holding on to anyone or anything.

Steve and I had a fun date weekend. My parents took the kids and we went to the Lantern Festival--a gala fundraiser for D's school. It was fun to get dressed up and have a night out.
