Trip to Colorado Springs

Highlights of our first week in Colorado (July 19-25):

SUNDAY

The kids rode their bikes almost everyday on Grandma and Grandpa's driveway.

We went to the El Paso County Fair in Calhan, CO. We all had a great time.

M wasn't too sure about the petting zoo, but Aunt Becky kept him safe.

MONDAY

D and M enjoyed using their pools from Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Rose.

M had his first dentist visit with dental hygenist extraordinaire, Aunt Becky.

He sat on my lap while Aunt Becky looked in his mouth.

After dinner, we headed to Aerial's where Rob and his girlfriend Haley take gymnastics lessons. D and M had a lot of fun on the equipment.

TUESDAY

THURSDAY

FRIDAY

We headed out for Fairplay, CO to go to the cabin. We stopped at Wilkerson's Pass, the halfway point.

After eating lunch at the Brown Burro Cafe (of course!) and nap time, we drove to Breckenridge.

SATURDAY

The highlight of the weekend in Fairplay: Burro Days. First, we watched the dog races in Alma.

Mike and Suzie, friends of ours from MN who moved to Aurora, came to Fairplay to watch the llama races and enjoy Burro Days with us. This was quite the event--you run with a llama for a 5K race on Saturday, or you can run with a burro on Sunday, wither the 15 mile "short" race or the 29 mile "marathon" (umm...no thank you). I think Mike is interested in trying the 5K llama race next year!

On Saturday, we flew out to see Steve's family in Colorado Springs. It was D's fourth and M's second flight.




D fell in love with Aunt Becky's baby doll.

Aunt Rose came from Wyoming and brought special gifts for the kids. She knew just what to get--fun, bouncy sparkly balls (they still haven't let go of them!). The kids enjoyed playing with them at the picnic Saturday evening at Steve's nephew Rob's house.
