Summer 2014 Part II

The kids took a week long camp this summer at Stepping Stone Theatre. They worked on a play in the morning and did makeup and music in the afternoon.

One day, they did makeup to make them look like old people.

 Another day they were zombies. I think this was their favorite one by far. They really got into it.

Lulu has the zombie look down pat. I'm a little scared.

The play they worked on and performed was a mash up of the book Alexander and the No Good, Very Bad, Horrible Day and the movie Star Wars. Buddy played Darth Vadar. We had a costume already from last year's post Halloween sales.

Lulu was a baby Yoda, but wasn't interested in dressing up.

 They did face painting for their makeup on the last day of the camp.

Our friends moved to Denver in July. The girls went to school together and had known each other since they were babies in ECFE classes. So sad!

 Steve's work had their summer picnic at Valleyfair this summer. The kids absolutely loved it. First time for them and I don't think I had been there for 30 years.

We decided to ride the octopus first. That was a mistake for me, as I never felt the same after that all day.

At the end of the evening, the kids participated in scooter races. Lulu won her race and got a ginormous cup that holds like a whole pitcher of lemonade. Luckily we were heading out and just brought it home. Couldn't imagine holding on to that thing all day.

 More tutoring time with Lulu and Lin Laoshi. Here she is teaching her to write the Chinese characters using calligraphy.

 We went to our friends' house to swim a couple of times.

 Julia and Jared came up to the cabin for a weekend. We went tubing down the St. Croix river and it was a perfect day. Steve did drop off and pick up as he was still run down from having viral meningitis this summer.

More blueberries! More than six anyways. Julia picked a whole baggie full to take home.

Buddy did soccer this summer, and Lulu wanted to do an art camp. She chose glow in the dark art camp and came home with new things she made each day.

We biked around Central Park one day and stopped at the playground and spaceship slide.

Another recipe. It's hard to see, but they are apple slices with mini marshmallows for teeth and cream cheese to hold it together.

Buddy is my tea buddy! We had a mommy-son date at TeaSource. We did their sample tray of five different green teas, then shared a pot of chai. Yum!

Steve and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary by going on a fajita and margarita dinner cruise down the St. Croix river (same river we got married on).
